Summer Shape Up

So you spent the winter months lounging on the couch, watching your favorite episodes of Friends, and now summer is here and you need to shape up….or maybe that is just me. Anyways, I know I am not the only one that needs a little help staying motivated! So we have put together some great tech that will help you get motivated to shape up this summer.

BodyMedia FIT LINK

First up is the FIT LINK from BodyMedia – this armband is a monitoring system that tracks the calories you have burned during your daily activity as well as measuring the intensity of your workouts. This silver armband acts as a personal motivator to push you to take more steps during the day, take the stairs instead of the elevator, and altogether do more activity. One thing that is important to a healthy lifestyle is sleep. The FIT LINK automatically captures your sleep efficiency, which is an important factor in weight loss. Also, your information is easily tracked on BodyMedia’s online Activity Manager. It allows you to keep track of your daily acticity as well as log your food intake and make it easier to get into shape this summer.

Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scale

There are several ways to measure the success of a healthy lifestyle. It could be how you feel about yourself, how you look and of course the number on the scale. The Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scale will help you get where you want to be. This black scale tracks your weight, body-fat percentage and BMI (Body Mass Index). It is able to track your long-term progress syncing your stats with online graphs and mobile tools. Knowing how you are progressing on a day to day or week to week basis will keep you motivated!

Garmin Forerunner 10 GPS Running Watch

If running is your thing, then a watch to track your distance is a must have! The Garmin Forerunner 10 GPS Running Watch not only tracks your distance, but also your pace, calories and identifies personal records. This allows you to challenge yourself to run faster and go father every time you hit the trail. This bright and stylish watch is comfortable and easy to use.

Life Works Universal Arm Band

Music is a major part of working out. It helps you get motivated and really pushes you to take your work out to the next level. Whether Jock Jams or Journey is your song of choice, you need a way to hold your music player while being active. The Life Works Universal Arm Band is designed to do just that.  This slim, lightweight sleeve is made for an iPhone, iPod or other smartphones and meant to protect your phone while working out. It is formfitting and made of ultralight spandex to make it an easy addition to whatever activity you are enjoying.

Phillps ActionFit Earhook Earbuds

Finally, to be able to enjoy those tunes you need a great pair of headphones to listen to those jams. The Phillips ActionFit Earhook Earbuds are perfect for working out. The lightweight fit is made to be used during sports or long runs. The amazing sound will keep you motivated and they are so lightweight you will barely know they are there. It comes with an adjustable earhook and soft silicon caps. Also, since you will be working up a big sweat, you can wash them because they are made of washable water-resistant materials.

I choose to be active to set a good example for my daughters.

  • jodi kozloff

I just started up my walking routine again after gaining 40 pounds..would love to be able to track the hopefully good work I am doing so far ..thanks for the chance!

  • Julie Davis

I choose to be active because I love the way it makes me feel.

  • Denise

The bodyfit items seem perfect to help support calorie counting. How can I know how much I should eat if I don’t know how much I am burning!? I know it would compliment my current regime perfectly.

  • Tammera

I have had issues with my weight and activity level my entire life and I have chosen this time to be MY time. I’ve actually put myself first and remaining active at the gym, changing my eating habits and my overall lifestyle.

  • Patty

I chose to stay active because at 28, I’m on medicine for high cholesterol. I’ve lost nearly 30 pounds since my diagnosis, but most importantly, my children are watching mommy change before their eyes. I want to be healthy for them and be a positive role model. It amazes me that they want to join me in the living room to work out and they’re only two and three years old! I’m instilling them with positive and healthy habits, and I hope it stays with them for the rest of their lives. That’s why I chose to stay active.

  • Nancy Robinson

I choose to remain active and live a healthy lifestyle. Growing up I watched both my parents suffer from obesity and live with numerous health problems. They strongly encouraged me not to take the same path as they did and helped me be more health conscious. I owe them my life.

  • Michelle Widell

In my early 20’s I was told by an orthopedic doctor that I had arthritis in my knees. I could barely walk or ride a bicycle as my knees were so swollen. I could take anti-inflammatory medication, get steroid shots, or start weight training to build muscle to support my knees. Since then, I regularly work out at least 3 times a week, which consists of weight training, walking and riding my bicycle. I completed my second of two metric century rides this year and hope to do a real century in a couple of weeks. Despite the diagnosis in my 20’s, I’m a happy and healthy woman who is nearing my 50’s, and I’m drug-free!

  • rachelle

I choose to stay active so I can live a long healthy life and to be a good example for my kids.

  • Janet

I have gained the weight (not too much but enough to be doing something about it) by telling myself something that is not the truth. BodyMedia tells you the truth. It’s not vigorous unless it is. It’s not 8000 steps unless it is. And the biggest eye-opener of all is the sleep monitoring! How much sleep am I getting, really?

Thanks and I want to win!

  • Michelle L

I am trying to get fit for myself. If I dont take action to better myself who will? I want to participate in my kids activities and enjoy the rest of our ever so short lives.

  • rachel richard

I CHOOSE to stay fit because every day I am grateful for what my body is capable of. I want to learn how to take care of myself so that I can be an educated body owner! An armband would help that!

  • Elizabeth McGhee

I choose to stay active for my health! I was nearly 70 pounds overweight and feeling depressed a year ago. When I decided that only I could change that, I started moving more every day, a little bit at a time. I’m seeing the weight slowly come off and the sense of accomplishment feels great. I still have 20 pounds to go and could use a major boost like the BodyMedia LINK would provide!

  • Jennifer Peterson

I work as a nurse on a busy hospital floor and on my days off I can’t sit still. I need to keep moving and whether that is running errands or running along the river, I want to have my fun tech gear along! Pick me!!

  • Shawnna Kellam

I have struggled with my weight my whole life. My mother and grandmother both passed away from breast cancer. I choose to stay active not only to reduce my weight and feel better about myself, but to reduce the risk of developing breast cancer myself. I’ve worked hard the last 9 months and managed to reduce my weight by 40lbs. I feel better, and want to truly embrace the life given to me.

  • Randy Hardin

I try to say active because I feel better and live better active.

  • Jacqueline

I choose to stay active because I believe it is important to live a healthy lifestyle. Staying active helps reduce so many health risks. I have grown up figure skating which naturally causes me to want to stay fit since I have to wear a skin tight dress in front of a ton of people. So when I look good, I feel good. Staying active and working out also helps reduce the stress that I have to deal with on a daily bases. I am going to college in the fall so staying active will also help me stay away from the freshman 15! I want to be a personal trainer so I feel it is important to be a role model so I might as well start now!

  • Holly

I choose to stay active to maintain good health.

  • Melina denetdale

I love the way I feel after every workout. It’s an accomplishment. :)

  • Keri

I choose to stay active to stay healthy! I do need a lot of motivation to do so though, so having something to help keep me motivated would be awesome!

  • Gail Shook

I choose to be more active as an example to my niece and nephew.

  • Theresa J

I stay active so that I have the energy to chase after my kids

  • Donna Krause

I’m getting active so I can be a help & not a hinderance to my family. At 39 my knees are going, I’ve tried TWICE to be on weight loss shows for help and came soooo close. I have no choice now but to make it happen before I end up in a wheelchair.

  • Susan Rife

Being 58 & out of shape is NOT Pretty!

  • Karen Sebeika

To lower my blood pressure and feel better about myself

  • Gail

I try to stay in shape by playing soccer, but when the warmer weather comes I need to focus on other ways to burn calories and stay active. this would be a great tool.

  • Rita Farley

I love to stay active for several reasons. As a single mom there are many stress factors, but working out and staying active helps to relieve the stress and allow me to enjoy life with my kids. Also because I learned to workout, it has enabled me to lose 100+ pounds in the past year and a half! I want to keep this weight off and stay healthy now!!

  • charisse adams

I chose to be healthy because I want to be as independent and functional as long as I can- I do not want others caring for me- I want to be skydiving at 90 and still have my own wits and teeth
