It’s a new year, and that means a new Great Create Challenge here on techspecs! As we look through all the awesome projects on Instructables, Make, and other communities, we’ve seen an increasing number of projects that incorporate some sort of mobile device, be it a tablet, cellphone, GPS, or even that netbook you still have laying around from a few years ago. We thought this would make for a fun challenge. We want to challenge you to take your creativity mobile by creating a project or hack that uses a mobile device (tablet, phone, GPS, etc) and an Arduino to do something cool. The sky’s the limit, and entries will be judged based on creativity, use of mobile device, and use of RadioShack products, parts, or pieces. The grand prize is a $250 RadioShack gift card, so fire up that soldering iron and show us what you’ve got!
So…..to recap:
- Come up with a mobile-oriented Great Create project
- Head to your local RadioShack to pick up extra parts and pieces, an Arduino, and a mobile device of some sort, if you need one. Or, you can just use whatever you already have at home.
- Build the project, and record a video of it in action or snap some great photos. (Don’t forget, judging is based off of creativity, use of mobile device, and use of RadioShack products, parts, or pieces.)
- Upload the project to RadioShack’s Great Create site between NOW and March 15th, 2013, at 11:59 PM CT
- Come back here and share the link to your project in the comments below (of course, if you have ideas for future Great Create Challenges, you can leave those in the comments, too)
- Have a chance to win a $250 RadioShack gift card
We do have a few rules/guidelines:
One entry per person. Contest begins at 4:00 PM CT on February 19th, 2013, and ends at 11:59 PM CT on March 15th, 2013. Winner will be chosen based off of judgement guidelines and announced after 12:00 PM CT on March 22nd, 2013 and will be contacted via email and posted here.
No payment or purchase necessary to win. Neither a purchase nor payment will improve your chances of winning. While you’re pretty cool in our book, you are not a winner of this contest yet. Void where prohibited. Must be a resident of the 50 United States to win.

I always go to the same Radio Shack in Royal Palm Beach! Julie the Manager is great and a wonderful person! Julie and all her associates are so helpful, polite and knowledgeable, etc! I have an Att cell for years and when ever I am for my upgrade, I never go to an ATT store or order on line! I always go the the RPB, location! I don’t like assembly lines!
I do all my Christmas shopping, everyday shopping needs that is carried at Radio Shack! Radio Shack has so much history, please do not change! I am 58 and from old school, and have always prefer shopping in smaller stores!
