Hi, Dave! I just wanted to address your question about solder that contains lead. Laws regarding lead content vary from state to state, and change over time. RadioShack takes great care to monitor and comply with all legal requirements, often exceeding requirements.

60/40 solder should be fine for the foreseeable future, but as always, you should solder in a well-ventilated area and wash your hands afterwards. And, mostly, have fun!

Great question, Dave. The 60/40 solder is still available (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062715). We also offer lead-free solder (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4314831). You should absolutely take care when disposing of any electronics, even those with lead-free solder.

Just a question. You mention 60/40 solder. (I'm assuming this is the old tin/lead mixture I used long ago.) Is that still available? I had heard that solder containing lead was being banned because whatever you solder with it would be considered "toxic waste and have to be disposed of accordingly.

While I can't speak for the Hyde Park store, I can speak for the Poughkeepsie store.

I gave them a chance when I needed a new cellphone and am happy to say that they did take good care of me. I was helped by the manager and two employees. Even tho we had a few minor setbacks, it was not their fault and they were very helpful and always nice to myself and any other customers who came into the store.

It's only about 10-15 minutes away from the store you went to. Give them a shot next time :)

Unfortunately you will have to deal with the scum of the customers that are at the poughkeepsie store. Thats the only downturn. There were 2 thefts in the 2 trips I made there. The first time that manager just came back in after chasing someone who stole a video surveillance package and the second time I was there they stole an unknown item.

People also come in and try and return old used and broken items.

I have no idea how the manager was still nice and patient but I got great service.

On Friday Feb 3rd I went inti your radio shack location on route 9 in Hyde Park NY, the time was 6:15 in the evening. The customer service was the absolute WORST I have ever experienced at any store in my 45 years of life. The balding man who was running the store had a friend he was visiting with, it was NOT a customer. They were both standing at the door shooting the breeze, I as a PAYING customer asked for help, and was told by your employee that I would have to wait until he was done. o in other words, while he is on paid time, he is making paying customers wait so that he can sit idly around shooting the shit with a friend. I left without completing the transaction that I came t the store for, which by the way was a product that I had already not paid for, but had bought insurance for. I wou,d not be putting this comment here if yu actually had a consumer friendly site, but there is no place for complaints to be submitted, and the 800 number states to go to the site. Again, in 45 years I have never seen such a blatant disregard to customer service as I experienced this evening. EVER.
