We love technology both new and old, and we love seeing all the crazy contraptions that you guys put together to keep your technology alive. Today, we’re pretty excited that the latest innovation in portable gaming, the Sony PlayStation Vita, is available at RadioShack!
This handheld system will make you wonder how that old Atari kept you entertained so long. The PlayStation Vita has monstrous 5-inch touchscreen OLED display, so you can clearly see where that next jump is. It also features a Six-axis motion sensing system, so you can control your games without pressing a button, though it also has the regular assortment of gaming buttons, including dual analog joysticks.
The PlayStation Vita is well connected, with built-in WiFi, and there’s even an option to include 3G and GPS, so you can truly be a connected gamer anywhere. There’s a built-in camera on both the front and back, so you can take great photos to share or you can do some video chatting.
The PlayStation Vita also features Cross Play, which lets you start a game on your PS3 and the continue it on your Vita, or challenge other gamers to a duel, regardless of whether they’re on the PS3 or a Vita themselves.
It’s an awesome experience, and RadioShack wants to help you discover how awesome it truly is, so we’re giving away 3 PlayStation Vita gaming systems, along with some accessories!
To enter, simply share a photo of the oldest gaming system that you have. We’ll go through all the photos and choose our top three favorites to each receive a Sony PlayStation Vita bundle, courtesy of RadioShack.
You can find out more about the Sony PlayStation Vita at RadioShack.com. You can also use our Trade and Save program to get INSTANT savings by trading in your old gaming system or other electronics when you purchase your new PlayStation Vita.
There are three different ways you can enter:

The very first system my family had was the NES. Many hours were wasted wisely on duck hunt with the zapper. But the first system that was mine was the Genesis. I never enjoyed a console more than that thing.

This is an oldie but goodie…its the Mattel “Starhawk” . I believe I got it around 1982. It still works, and entertained my stepdaughters, and my son, who is now 16 when they were all younger. My husband and I still get it out occasionally to play it. Our son just rolls his eyes, …we are definitely old school, lol

The first “system” I had was a pong game with 2 paddle controllers connected together that I believe came from radio shack in my younger years. But that is long gone. Here is a picture of the oldest one that I still have an original gameboy.

VB
WHAT??? HOW AM I NOT A WINNER OF THIS PS VITA CONTEST? I SUBMITTED MY TWITTER ENTRY TODAY BEFORE THE DEADLINE!!! Here it is: “@RadioShack Hello! Here are some photos of my oldest video game system. Still works! Released in 1978: twitpic.com/8nq7sq #OldSchoolGamer” It’s an ORIGINAL MAGNAVOX ODYSSEY², released in 1978!!! THAT’S ONE OF THE OLDEST SYSTEMS ENTERED! AND I CAN PROVE THAT I OWN IT!!! WHY WAS I OVERLOOKED?
Ricky Cadden
@VB – thanks for participating! We had so many entries across Twitter, Instagram, and here on The Shack Blog! As specified in the rules above, we looked through all the entries and chose our favorites, not necessarily the oldest ones.
VB
So you picked two of the same 1984 Game & Watch handhelds, and a common Super Ninendo as the winners? That’s not fair AT ALL. What was the point of people submitting photos of their rare, classic “oldest systems” if release seniority had nothing to do with how winners were selected?
VB
Plus, none of the winners showed that they even own those pictures. I at least took photos of my system with my Twitter name attached on the box and console for direct proof….
Clark Howard
I agree. The winners of this should have been the three oldest systems owned and entered, not a strangely biased top three favorites selection. What makes them your favorites over the others? What were your choices based on? Li (Atari 2600), VB (Odyssey 2) and S. Thrun (1970s Atari) should receive the PSVita prizes. And there should be another contest with better rules so more people can win also.
Craig
VB – ssh.
Kay Z
Congrats to the winners!!
Carolina Dhabolt
Can’t believe I missed this! I love Radioshack, congrats to the lucky winners!!!
AppTrix
