A Day in the Life of Dani Morabito, Senior Buyer – Wireless Accessories

RadioShack HQ is filled with tons of talented people working together to bring all the best tech to stores across the country. We want to let our readers and fans get to know us a little bit, so we sat down with Dani Morabito, our Senior Buyer of Wireless Accessories. Dani is one of the key people who makes sure all those awesome cases, screen protectors and other accessories get to store shelves  so you can make your phone your own. Here’s a day in the life of Dani in her own words:

The life of a Senior Buyer of Wireless Accessories is sometimes glamorous, often frantic and always fun.

7:00am – My alarm goes off. I’ll snooze 10 or 20 minutes depending on how lazy I am and if it’s a “ponytail” day or not. I’m a night owl, so after struggling to get out of bed, I turn on the TV to watch the TODAY show so I can catch the news and the weather so I know how to dress for the day. I’m not a coffee drinker, so I get a glass of OJ to take my vitamins before I start to get ready.

8:10-8:20am – I arrive at the office (sometimes a little late). I usually walk in with my smartphone in hand, checking/sending text messages and emails.

Rest of the Morning – My morning calendar is CRAZY!!! Meetings with vendors, internal meetings with the team, meetings, meetings and more meetings. In most of them, I’m on my laptop trying to keep up with emails and get answers to people as quickly as I can.

Lunchtime – Most of the time I bring my own lunch because I don’t have time to leave the office to run out and grab a bite to eat. I eat lunch at my desk as I continue working on my tasks that need to be completed for the day/week.

Rest of the Day – Monday is the only day that is routine for me. I run reports all morning and analyze the business to see what accessories are hot right now and which ones are going out of style. Most other days are full of checking/responding to emails, reviewing sales and seeing what new samples have arrived for new handsets. I’ll touch base with my team to see if anything urgent has come up and meet with the handset buyers to find out what new handsets are on the horizon and start sourcing cases and screen protectors for them.

When I get a few spare minutes during the day I check my horoscope to see if I’m going to have a good or bad day! I also can’t get through the day without tons of water! I’m a huge water drinker, and you’ll always see me running from meeting to meeting with a full glass.

Every once in a while I have some really crazy days at RadioShack. For example, say a new product launch gets announced. When something like that goes down, I spend that day jumping around from blog site to blog site to see who has the most accurate information about what exactly the product is going to be called and when it’s going to be available for consumers to purchase.  That’s when my job gets REALLY fun!

5:00pm –  I don’t leave right at 5:00, but I try my hardest to leave between 5:30 – 6:00 p.m.

My favorite thing about working at RadioShack HQ is always being in the know on the next cool electronics launch and meeting with our vendors and seeing the new cases they’re coming out with for particular handsets.

That’s a typical day as a Senior Buyer of Wireless Accessories at RadioShack!

We hope you enjoyed getting to know us a little bit and having a glimpse inside RadioShack HQ. Give us a shout out in the comments to let us know which mobile accessories are your favorites and which ones Dani and RadioShack should bring to stores next.

As an almost 3-year manager at Radio Shack I am always pumped to see new accessories come out. I hate having to tell a customer “we don’t have anything for that phone”. I met with my DM and his boss a couple months ago and he asked if we were having any issues with any products. I mentioned that we carry 18 contract phones with no sku-specific accessory. But we have 12 separate cases for the Evo 3d. In the last 4 weeks I have seen EIGHT new cases! I am pumped and I don’t know if you had anything to do with that but if you did, THANK YOU! I am also excited to see cases that are not black – as customers are always looking for unique and the ones we just got for the Samsung Galaxy are awesome as well.
