CES 2012 – Samsung OLED TV

This is post 8 of 22 in the CES 2012 series

One of our first stops on Day 2 was the Samsung booth and much like at LG the day before, we saw OLED TVs the likes of which we’ve never seen before. For those of you that don’t know, OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) technology is what you see in a lot of smartphone screens these days. Since they work without a backlight, OLED screens can display blacker blacks and deeper colors, and are also unbelievably thin. Until this year at CES, OLED screens were relatively small. Now we’re seeing 55-inch screens that are only millimeters thick. This is the future of television.

It’s CES season, so there will be more big announcements and cool stuff to come. Stay tuned to our live tweeting from the floor on @RadioShackLIVE. Right here at The Shack Blog, we’ll have video recaps and coverage of all things CES all week long.
