Usually breaking your phone’s screen is one of the worst things that can happen to you, but not at Corning Gorilla Glass’s booth at CES. We got to see just how tough their damage- and scratch-resistant glass is, and channeled the aggression we had about our sore feet into breaking the regular stuff. John, our Corning representative, let Paige try her hand at shattering regular old soda-lime glass (which is standard, everyday window pane and soda bottle glass), strengthened soda-lime glass, and finally two types of Corning Gorilla Glass. We saw the debut of Corning Gorilla Glass 2, which has the same herculean strength of the original but is 20% thinner. Both forms can withstand up to 130 pounds of pressure without shattering, making your smartphone super tough!

It’s CES season, so there will be more big announcements and cool stuff to come. Stay tuned to our live tweeting from the floor on @RadioShackLIVE. Right here at The Shack Blog, we’ll have video recaps and coverage of all things CES all week long.
