It’s no secret that Android is quickly becoming one of the hottest smartphone operating systems in the world – Nielsen recently reported that Android smartphones outsold the iPhone 2 to 1 over the summer. At RadioShack, we have over a dozen different Android-powered smartphones – everything from the powerful Motorola DROID BIONIC to the affordable and super popular LG Optimus V.
One of the coolest things about Android, though, is the passionate community of users who truly believe in the platform. A great example of this is the 2nd Annual Big Android BBQ taking place in Austin, TX this weekend. The Big Android BBQ is a ‘Funvention’ where you can get together with other Android enthusiasts to share homescreen layouts, app recommendations, and more. It’s also a great opportunity for you to learn more about how to do more with Android, with panels and sessions with developers from HTC, Motorola, and LG. The event itself spans over two days, with sessions and panels on Saturday and the real fun (and good Texas BBQ) happening on Sunday afternoon. We think the Big Android BBQ sounds like a great way to meet up with some of our most passionate customers and learn more about the cool things people are doing with Android.
Paige and I are on the ground in Austin for the whole weekend, bringing you to the Big Android BBQ virtually through our phones. Paige is armed with the spectacular HTC Thunderbolt from Verizon, with its blazing fast 4G LTE connectivity and crazy camera, while I am using the brand new LG Marquee from Sprint, since it’s so thin and light. We’re both powered up with our Enercell Portable Power packs, and we’ve got a handful of other fun stuff, too.
To keep up with the action, follow us on Twitter at @RadioShackLIVE – it’ll be nonstop fun, and feel free to tweet us if you have any questions or want us to check something out! What do you love the most about Android?
