What a great show of passion and support! On Thursday, September 29, wearing yellow wristbands and yellow shirts, RadioShack celebrated LIVESTRONG Day – an annual day of action in the global fight against cancer – with our corporate LIVESTRONG Employee Awareness Day. We partnered with TCC, our SHACK team members, and TCC students, took over Main Street with vendor information tables and activities all surrounding cancer and wellness awareness.
The LIVESTRONG Memory/Dedication wall quickly filled up with many people taking the opportunity to write and post a message to someone they know affected by cancer. Very popular, the LIVESTRONG Digital Photo Booth gave everyone an opportunity to capture and share the day’s memories! With the click of a button, portraits became part of our live digital slide show. An Apple iPad 2 was on hand to instantly broadcast photos across Facebook and Twitter. Each person left the booth with a print of the custom photo as a keepsake. LIVESTRONG and Team RadioShack licensed merchandise was raffled off at $1 per ticket with 100% of the proceeds donated directly to LIVESTRONG. Our LIVESTRONG table offered guidebooks providing information for those diagnosed with cancer, along with yellow wristbands – a worldwide symbol of cancer awareness.
We want to extend a big thank you to all those who volunteered during the event, as well as to the vendors that came to share useful wellness and health information including, the American Cancer Society, Texas Oncology and Cook’s Children’s Medical Center.
With more than 28 million people living in the world with cancer today, RadioShack is proud of our continued partnership with LIVESTRONG, working together fulfilling the promise to fight toward the common goal of a cancer free world.
