#ACLfest Day 2 Recap

This is post 4 of 6 in the ACL 2011 series

Day two of Austin City Limits 2011 was one to remember! Getting to see Stevie Wonder perform was a once in a lifetime experience, but more on that later! From walking on South Congress to dancing in the rain to Iron & Wine, day 2 was not short of excitement for Breanne and me!

Here is what Breanne had to say of day 2-The second day of ACL was a little different for us,  instead of starting the day early at Zilker Park, we instead headed to South Congress where we ate too much delicious food at my beloved Magnolia Cafe. While in that fun area of SoCo, we made a sign advertising the 3day pass we had to give away – but we would only hand it over after the person had proven themselves to us by dancing. It’s amazing to me how long it took us to find somebody willing to dance for the free ticket, but eventually Matt approached us. With me as his partner, he danced himself into a free weekend of great music.

When we finally arrived at ACL for the day, we caught 3 full shows: Iron & Wine, Cee-Lo, and Stevie Wonder. The first two shows were pretty entertaining and a lot of fun to watch. Stevie Wonder was magnificent, though, and his show was everything I hoped it would be! The whole crowd was singing along and dancing the whole time. As I type, my feet are propped up and throbbing (from all the standing, dancing, then walking back to the hotel), but it was SO worth it. Two days down, one to go! Let’s do this, Austin!

Paige here again- For most people that have been going to Austin City Limits for years, ACL Mike is a name that goes right along with Mighty Cone, Barton Springs and pedi cabs. ACL Mike has been at ACL for 9 of the 10 years and knows the festival better than anyone. I was lucky enough to track him down for a few minutes and get an interview with the one and only ACL Mike.

Don’t forget to check out Fernanda Alzas and Layla Flores with Lagartija Pop and Gabriel Bruzon with El Mundo Newspaper.

Keep following Breanne and myself- @RadioShackLIVE. If you are here share your experience with us by sending pictures and videos- we would love to see everything that Austin City Limits has to offer! We might just send you some RadioShack goodies!

BEST ACL YET! What a line-up. My favorite overall performance was Kayne but Arcade Fire on Sunday pulled it in for a close second. If you didn’t download the ACL app for the iPhone, you were without. Easiest to navigate your music stops and make my own schedule. Genuis! I also loved the old performance recaps ACL provided on some of the main stages. Can music and technology top this year?! It’s going to be really hard!
