Unboxing the HP TouchPad

The HP TouchPad arrived at RadioShack recently, and we were floored by the beautiful and functional webOS, which offers easy multitasking to let you get things done more easily. It is also wonderful for entertainment, with Beats Audio technology integrated! You can download movies from anywhere with the HP Movie Store or use the Amazon Kindle app to read your favorite book. Check out our video to see what comes in the box and get an idea of how awesome this tablet looks.

You can use the RadioShack Store Locatorto find the store nearest you or order the HP TouchPad online at  RadioShack.com. Don’t forget to bring your old electronics in so you can use The Shack’s Trade & Save programto get instant value to use towards your new TouchPad.

What is you favorite aspect of the HP TouchPad?

UPDATE: As you may know the HP TouchPad has been discontinued. On Friday when we decided to post on the RadioShack Blog we were aware of the situation. We still wanted to show you what was in the box and what the HP TouchPad had to offer. If you purchased an HP TouchPad at RadioShack in the past 30 days, you can take your receipt to your local store and receive a credit for the difference. Since the HP TouchPad has been discontinued, what Tablet would you be most interested in having?

are you guys going to discount them since hp is discontinuing them?

  • HA

LOL. Serious? Try reading the news before you embarrass yourself and the company you work for. Or, take a course in PR.

  • Johnathan

Dude, isnt this a little late? When are you dropping the price?

  • F

This is rather delayed. I’ve been hearing rumors about the price being dropped to the HP discounted one in the next 48 hours, are they unfounded?

  • Ken

Bought one of these at the local store before the HP fire sale. Will refunds be offered, similar to what other retailers are offering?

  • g

Surely Radio Shack will respect the relationship it has with its customers and drop their prices on the liquidated HP Touchpad? It would be short-sighted not to – maximizing profits today would be outweighed by the loss of consumer trust in the future.

I bought a 32gb at full price last week from the Shack…I need to be refunded the difference or will have to return it next month…and then you’ll have to figure out what to do with a bunch of returned discontinued products.

  • Ricky Cadden

We have dropped the price and will be offering our standard 30-day price protection policy. If you purchased the TouchPad in the past 30 days, please take your receipt to your local store and they will process this for you.

    Ricky Cadden,

Maybe you can save a little bit of Radio Shack’s intergrity by answering a few questions for me. Why is it that I was allowed to order the HP Touchpad early Saturday morning, then I receive a call from your order department confirming that my order was shipping, but then when you announce that the price will drop, I get an email at 10p saying that my order is now back-ordered. What kind of tricks is Radio Shack trying to pull. That is absolutely hogwash. Please educate me on what has happened?????

    • Ricky Cadden

KJ – That’s definitely not a great experience – sorry for that. We have extremely limited supplies, but we should not have called you if we weren’t 100% sure we could ship your order. Would you mind sending an email to Help@RadioShack.com with details, including your order number? I’ll make sure that one of our Customer Care representatives checks into your order ASAP. Thanks so much.

I agree with KJ same thing happen to me!

  • Me

I ordered a 32gb touchpad and via the web.
Radio Shack shipped the item today Aug 23rd. They charged me the full price.
Now, Radio Shack wants me to go to a store to claim the difference.
    I don’t want a $400 credit to Radio Shack.

Is there any way my credit card can be refunded?

Is there any way this can be done via the web / phone as I don’t have a car and can’t get to the “local” Radio Shack.

    Please let me know!

  • Joseph

I had the same issue as KJ. Why would you call me and tell me that you’re confirming the order and it was about to ship, then send me an email that it’s back ordered? Something does not seem right here. I have a lot of money held up here that I could of used at another retailer. Now it’s sitting held by my bank because you guys are not getting it together.

I found a local RS that had a few Touchpads in stock and I purchased one at full price on Saturday. I knew HP was discontinuing them so I was anticipating the price drop at RS. I then watched the RS page for several days, but the Touchpad disappeared off the site without any change in price.

If I understand you correctly, Mr. Cadden, the price DID indeed drop at all RS locations and anyone who has purchased a Touchpad within the last 30 days is entitled to a refund of the price difference. Is that accurate? Do the RS prices reflect HP’s own store prices of $99/$149?

I would like some clarification on the RS refund policy. The employee who sold me the tablet told me I would be subjected to a 15% restocking fee if I decided to return it. She also went so far as to say there was no way to avoid this fee as the register would automatically add it and that no function existed to remove it. However, the receipt clearly states that this fee does not apply to unopened merchandise. I can only come to the conclusion that this employee was ignorant of the policy and the operation of the POS terminal. Am I correct, or is there some small print involved that I’m not aware of?

    Thanks for any information.

    • Ricky Cadden

We have a price protection policy that allows the store to adjust your cost to match the price if it’s within 30 days of purchase. We did indeed drop our price to reflect the price drop by HP.

I just received my Radio Shack HP touchpad. I paid full price last week. I called Radio Shack online and they said that they have not lowered their price and will not honor HP’s new lower prices of $100/149.

    What should I do?

  • mg

I sent an email and I have not heard back. If this is your preferred form of business, I’d appreciate a response via email.
Still, I would be happy to call and deal with this over the phone. Is there a phone number I should be using?

  • los23

anyone have any luck obtaining the 30-day price protection difference mentioned above? Paid full price and haven’t had a chance to go in person to a radio shack. I emailed the help address given above but no response yet, been about week now.

  • deeash

Ricky Cadden, you said Radioshack is honoring prices and you can get the discount at your local store. I purchased a HP touchpad during the HP promotion period and am not being honored the price discount. If Radioshack.com doesn’t honor this, this is customer discrimination and unjust policies as it is treating its customers unfairly and different. The company is losing consumer trust!!!

I have bought the HP touchpad 32GB online.Ship to Store order.I am charged 524.99 for the same. When i go to the stores they are not able to refund the difference.i called online customer service they said we cannot do anything just go to the store.I went to 3 different stores but all of them said we do not have a manager here. They were just so scared to handle any price adjustment(did not even want to touch it). They said we need a 5 digit receipt number.I showed them the online receipt which had the 10 digit order number but no help.I asked them what if i had to return the product. She said we cannot accept returns in store for products purchased from online.A very frustating experience. Can u give me some directions on how to handle this

  • Nileshkumar

This is what i get when i contacted ur help desk

    Dear Nileshkumar,

    Thank you for contacting RadioShack.com.

Unfortunately your purchase does not qualify for a price adjustment. The
HP Touchpads price was never dropped on the Radioshack.com store. We
sold out of these items at full price. The store is unable to do a price
match for you because you do not purchase the item from the store, but
rather online. Once more, the price was never lowered at the online
store, therefore there is no price match we can provide. You have 30
days from the day you received your order to return the item for a full
refund. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your time.

Unfortunately, we are unable to extend this policy to sale price changes
and/or by companies other than RadioShack.com.

If you have additional questions please contact us at 1-800-843-7422,
select 1 to use the touch pad on your phone, then select Option 1. Thank
you again for contacting us at RadioShack.com.

    Sincerely,

Here is the deal there were different skus for online and instore product. if you purchased said item and the stock number began with 550 then that is an online only item and will not be price matched. If you purchased a ship to store or instore and the stock number begins with 250 than that item IS available for the price match.

550-items are dealt with directly from the online site, which is crap by the way. 250 are items that are dealt with at the Shack and it does not effect an employee commission at all, so they do not mind doing it (or shouldn’t it will take 2 min at most).
