#Holla4Lolla Day Three of Lollapalooza 2011

This is post 5 of 6 in the Lollapalooza 2011 series

Sunday was the final day of Lollapalooza 2011, sadly. I had to head back on a late afternoon flight, but Mike stayed downtown through the day. While I was sitting on a bench at the airport, Mike had more to experience, come rain or shine.

Mike’s Thoughts

Iration at Lollapalooza 2011

I started off the day seeing Iration, a reggae band from Hawaii, and they were simply awesome. After walking all over the park on the first two days, I decided to spend most of my final day really enjoying the VIP access to the Lolla Lounge – it’s hard to argue with the free food and drinks back there. From the Lolla Lounge I caught a bit of Joy Formidable and Noah and the Whale, both artists that I had not heard of but really enjoyed. I will definitely be checking out their music after the festival. I also discovered City and Colour, and really enjoyed their set.

Bud Light Stage At Lollapalooza 2011

While Ricky watched the live stream of Flogging Molly (one of his favorite groups) from the airport, I was front and center at the Bud Light stage to fully experience their songs. They had the whole stage area packed and the entire crowd was moving and dancing along.

The Rains At Lollapalooza 2011

It didn’t take the looming clouds long to open up and release the rains. Shortly thereafter, Lollapalooza was covered in mud and really resembled Woodstock with all the kids playing and sliding around in the mud. I did manage to catch a bit of the Foo Fighters before the rains, and finally stopped at Perry’s for a bit of shelter. Kid Cudi was awesome, and the crowd was rocking the whole time.

Tell us the one band that you would stand in the rain for in the comments below and you could win a cool prize pack!

UPDATE: Ya’ll are sure a determined bunch, enduring the rain for your favorite bands! My personal choice would be Counting Crows – would LOVE to see them play in the rain! Also, congrats to Cheryl, Shawn, and Jennifer – ya’ll should have an email in your inbox.
