HTC EVO 3D Tips and Tricks

This is post 4 of 6 in the HTC EVO 3D series

Got the new HTC EVO 3D? Check. But now how do you use it? We’ve got the skinny on making the most of this amazing new phone. Take a look at some of our favorite tips and tricks, and then see if you’ve got anything to add to the list.

Customizable Lockscreen

This one’s pretty basic, but it’s also one of the most useful things to do with the new Sense 3.0 interface. First, pick a theme for your lockscreen. That was easy. Now comes the hard part – picking your four favorite apps. Think about which ones you’ll use most often, since you’ll be able to launch the apps right from the lockscreen. Right now, we’re using the new Weather widget, Pandora, Swype and Google Voice (we gotta call Mom sometime).

Fun and Games

With two cameras, glasses-free 3D and a blazing fast dual-core processor, there are plenty of reasons the HTC EVO 3D is the ultimate entertainment phone. Here’s what we’re into right now:

  • Ultimate Spider-Man: Total Mayhem 3D – We haven’t been this geeked to play Spidey since that one time back in high school when we tried to make our own web slingers. Luckily the ones in this game actually work, and they look amazing in 3D.
  • Swype – Adios clickety clack and hello swipety swipe! Sure, you could type every letter of every word individually, or you could just swipe and go. The best part, Swype comes preloaded on the phone. Bloatware? No way!
  • picplz – Our favorite pic taking and sharing app helps you send embarrassing photos of your friends right where they belong…straight to the Web, of course. The built-in filters are pretty cool, too.
  • The Green Hornet in 3D – How they crammed a big Hollywood blockbuster into a tiny phone we’ll never understand, but watching the preloaded movie in 3D is a no-brainer. Plus, you can download plenty more 2D and 3D movies from the HTC Watch™ movie app.

3D Camera

So that’s how photos are supposed to look! It’s amazing to actually take 3D pics and videos and be able to see them on the same device. We also like that we can attach the phone to our 3D TV with the HDMI-out jack and see them on the big screen. While swapping the camera to 2D mode is a snap, we’ll take the depth of field in the 3D shots any day. Follow the link for more HTC EVO 3D camera tips & tricks.

I like the HTC evo 3D, but just like when the release of the HTC evo 3g/4g a year ago, there are problems ie: dropped calls, calls going directlty to voice mail, rebooting on it own, slow connection to any site, and crooked pages, when opened. The battery wears out fast and takes forever to charge.

Radio Shack Sucks! I had a rep at a RadioShack kiosk operation in Sam’s Club sell me two useless HTC phones which I returned 3 days later only to find out Sam’s club had terminated RadioShack’s instore Operations. Radio Shack declined return of the cell phone to any RadioShack store and insisted on return by post paid package with FedEx. Radio lost the package and RADIOSHACK HAS BEEN VERY UNCOOPERATIVE CREDITING MY ACCOUNT. RadioShack has the worst customer service experience. I will never buy anything from them.

In now in my 3rd replacement from the shack ….. I’m starting to lose faith in this phone, and HTC :( every phone I have gotten has either had a crooked screen, crooked camera, or poor reception….. I now have the phone i have waited for for over 15 years( I’m a major 3d enthusiast) only to have it be one of the worst phones i have had since the touch pro…. Someone needs to fix this….fast!!!

    Thank you so much.

However, Evo 3D’s camera is only 5MPixel compared to most other phones in the same price range (8MPixel on similar models).
